Game Play & Bracketing:

Play will consist of two teams of 3 players each on the court at a time. (the over 40 bracket can have one pre-registered substitute) The game will be played on a half-court set up with back court required past the top of the key when possession of the ball changes (no-pressure or free backcourt rules are in effect for grades 6 and under).  The game will end and a winner determined at the first to occur of 15 points or the score at the end of a 15 minute running clock kept by the court official. After every made basket, their will be a change of possession, this is considered the “losers” halfcourt rule.

If there is a tie at the end of the game, the court official will place 2 minutes on the clock and the game will continue. The first possession in this 2 minute overtime will be awarded based on a coin toss or similar technique as decided by the court offical. If after the first overtime, the teams are still tied, a second overtime will be held following the same rules. If a tie still exists after the second overtime, the teams will be brought to the Tournament Directors table and a shootout will commence. The Shootout format will be decided by the Tournament Director and is subject to change.

The exception to the tie breaker rule will be applied for all championship games. All Championship games will have unlimitted overtimes to determine the winner.

All made baskets will be 2 points, there is no 3 point scoring.

There will be no free throws during play. When a foul is committed during the first 10 mins, as determined by the court official, the team fouled will be awarded possession of the ball at the half-court mark. After 10 minutes, the team fouled will be awarded possession and the fouling team will have 1 point deducted from its score.

In some groups, a “seeding” round may be held to determine placement for the first round of play. Details of the brackets will be determined by the number of teams in each group. All teams are guaranteed to play a minimum of 2 games.

If a team fails to arrive on the specified court later than 5 minutes after the scheduled start of the game, it shall be considered a forfeit. Excepetions may be granted by the court or league officials.

No registration fees will be refunded.
